Give the gift of Prime membership: $119 for one year @ Amazon (opens in new tab)Want to avoid the Prime member price hike Current Prime members can purchase one year of Amazon Prime for $119 and manually apply the gifted membership before their current membership ends. That will lock in another year of Prime membership for $119.
To gift it to yourself, simply enter your own e-mail when filling out the \"recipient's e-mail\" field on the Amazon checkout page. (Make sure to use the same e-mail you currently use for your Prime membership. That should keep all of your Amazon Prime history in tact).
Once you've entered an e-mail, just choose a \"delivery date\" for the e-mail (I set it to send ASAP) and continue your purchase as you would any regular purchase on Amazon. Roughly five to ten minutes after gifting myself a membership, I got my Amazon receipt and my \"gifted\" subscription via e-mail.
A few things to note. The price of Prime will increase on February 18 for new members. It's unclear if the price of a gifted membership will also increase on the same date. (I'm assuming it will). So I recommend you gift yourself that Prime membership before this Friday.
Additionally, you must remember to cancel your current membership a day before it's set to expire. You don't want Amazon to auto-renew you at the higher rate. Lastly, there's nothing stopping you from gifting yourself more than one Prime membership. The downside is you'll need to pay for everything upfront.
Amazon will send your gift recipient an email, along with simple redemption instructions. The recipient can start their Prime membership immediately. If the recipient is already a Prime member, the gift can be exchanged for an Amazon.com Gift Card to be used on the site.
To avoid the Amazon Prime price hike, existing subscribers can just change their monthly subscription to a yearly subscription before March 25, 2022. Or you can buy a one-year Prime gift membership by Friday, February 18, 2022, to lock in the current price for another year.
To buy a Prime gift membership, go to amazon.com/giftprime and select Add Prime to Cart. Then go to your cart, select Proceed to Checkout, and enter your shipping information. Once you complete the order, you will receive an email with instructions on how to set up your membership.
You can purchase a Prime gift membership even if you already have a subscription. Since the Prime gift membership does not expire, you can wait until your subscription ends and then use it to get two years at the current price.
To cancel your Amazon Prime membership, go to amazon.com/gp/primecentral and click Manage Membership. Then select End membership. Finally, you can choose whether to keep your Prime benefits until your subscription ends or cancel them.
Did you know that it's not all that hard to send yourself an Amazon Prime gift membership And since you pay that price in full, up front, and can activate it whenever you want, theoretically, one could buy a $119 yearly membership today and start using it months after the price hike goes into effect. You can even send yourself multiple gifts (if you don't mind a hefty upfront cost), making it possible to avoid the $139 fee for some time.
There, you'll see a box with your membership information. To apply a gift subscription, you will need to cancel your current membership and start anew, but how you should go about this varies slightly depending on the end date of your subscription.
Input your email and make sure to complete your order by Feb. 17. If you wait until past this date, the gift membership will cost $139, even though existing members' Prime rates do not increase until March 25.
The option to use gift card will appear during the sign-up process for Prime membership or Prime Video Channel subscription. If the balance of your card is higher than the cost of the plan, the balance will remain in your account and will be used to pay the following periods. Remember that the balance can also be used to make purchases on Amazon.com.mx, so you must ensure that you have enough balance to cover subsequent months.
